Events

This workshop is organised by Professor Gabriela Arguedas-Ramírez of the University of Costa Rica, who also serves as a Co-Investigator on the Moving Beyond Solidarity Rhetoric in Global Health project. It will bring together academics, researchers, healthcare professionals, disability rights activists, reproductive justice advocates, environmental protectors, social scientists, philosophers, journalists, NGOs, and intergovernmental organisations. The two-day event will take place at the Calderón Guardia Museum, which honours Costa Rica’s history of public healthcare.

This summer school brings together participants from 9 countries across Southern Africa to engage in meaningful discussion, learning exchange, share experiences and reflections on solidarity. This will be happening from 23 February 2025 to 26 February 2025 at the Boschendal Conference Centre, Franschhoek.

The GH-Solidarity project kicks off its bi-monthly webinar series, featuring insights from interviews on the concept of solidarity.

This webinar will focus on emerging findings from interviews with senior staff in influential global health organizations, about meanings and practices of solidarity. Enablers and challenges to solidarity described in these interviews will be presented and serve as the starting point for an open discussion on the complexities of solidarity in relationships between higher and lower resourced global health actors.

The expert workshop at the University of Nigeria Nsukka will bring together a small group of academics and researchers from different disciplines for discussion and learning exchange on the topic of solidarity within the Igbo context.

Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Communications Officer to lead the development and execution of our communication strategy. This role will support the research uptake and engagement plan/ activities of our project, ensuring the effective dissemination of information across various platforms and to diverse audiences.

Duration:  1 year with three months probation (minimum 21 hours a week) 

The Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Regional Workshop will be organized by co-investigator Prof. Bridget Pratt of Australian Catholic University.

This event will host about 30 participants from Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, and some members of the Global Health Solidarity Project.
